You begin to realize...
...that whatever was taught to you within the confines of a classroom was only theory and never practical
...that the world is quite dynamic and things change in split-second
...that you can be denied a job in spite of passing a test and that you could be given a job if you agreed to sleep with your boss
...that not everyone thinks and acts from their heart
...that contrary to popular belief it is men who gossip more than women
...how critical it is to have a black dress and a pair of blue jeans in your closet and that the color of your eye-shadow has to match your dress
...its fine to have substantial portions of your earnings tied up in clothes, shoes, accessories, handbags, perfumes and make-up items
...that your career has just started plateauing and you're finding stability
...that you seem to enjoy both - cartoons and Oprah
...that you can no longer eat whatever you wish without putting on weight and yet you never refuse ice-cream or chocolates when you're depressed or feeling low
...that you look "out-of-the-world" if you've skipped the basic girly-do's for the fortnight
...that most people you cared about besides your family, didn't really care that much about you
...that you've taken a sudden fascination for old Hindi/English songs, especially the ones from the 60s, 70s, and 80s
Your ex-bfs and every girl from your school/college class has either had children or is expecting or is already married or is getting married or is engaged
College friends consider you too "matured" to include you in their group while office colleagues consider you too "young"
You keep getting invited to all kinds of matches/sports/concerts with your friends and their bfs and a whole bunch of unknown people
You attend these events with the hope of just "putting yourself out-there and finding Mr. Right"
You observe that politics does not only happen on the macro-level but it does even in friendships and office groups
Elders keep making the dreaded comment at weddings - "you're next!"
You are forcibly made to attend every function or marriage ceremony
Every Aunt you meet asks - "exactly how old are you?"
In reality, you're secretly praying to God that your Mr. Right be some charming prince like that in a fairytale who comes riding on a white horse
You start taking everything seriously (finances, people etc.) and begin relating it to the prospect of settling down and getting married
Suddenly all your education seems like a total waste and all that matters is cooking-skills and how well you speak your mother-tongue
You realize that every philosophy/lyrics/statement quoted in the name of love doesn't apply at all when you say that final YES to an arranged marriage proposal
You begin believing that love is indeed blind but also trust that in due course of time, love opens your eyes
You finally accept and know that all guys are the same
You're searching for security that would give you enough confidence to stand up for yourself, the trouble is that most of the times you find that security in a guy
You are forced to believe that like all materialistic things, even love and friendship has its terms and conditions
You get to know that your tolerance doesn't really have a threshold when it comes to dealing with a loved one
You accept that prayer is your only answer and comfort at times and that its important to cry every once in a while in order to de-toxify yourself
Your ego and attitude starts melting away giving rise to a more sober, compromising and understanding nature
And finally, now you know - life isn't exactly that fairy-tale you thought it would be...!

Here's the guy version compiled by Seldon:
"Mid-late twenties is such a tricky age for a man.... your ex-gfs are getting married, Your career has just started, Elders treat you as unproven theorems, College guys feel that you are too old to have in their group... You seem to enjoy both cartoon and news. You can no longer eat whatever you wish without putting on weight. You look like an ape if you don’t shave daily. You are not invited for weekend cricket matches. Every Aunty you meet ask “lagna kadhi karnar ahes re!!” while uncle asks “Career cha kay tharavlay??".. When the reality is that you are just riding the wave and going with the flow… You have all the confidence in the world but little achievements to show, You already have the first-hand experience of the life, You know that whatever you have been taught about the world in schools has been a sheer waste of time. You can be denied a job even after passing the test and you could be given a job if you know someone placed high enough… Politics till now was a dirty word but now you feel it everywhere. You know now love is not that blind and that friendship has its terms and conditions. .You know there is nothing for granted and free lunches are not free… Your overconfidence is now making way for a humble conscience... You now know it is not exactly what we thought it would be….."
